About Watch Company of Henry Moser & Cie:
Legendary "Russian Swiss" Watch Company of Henry Moser & Cie has been founded by Johann Heinrich Moser in Le Locle, Switzerland. Having directed production to Russia, the firm has found a huge commodity market, and all manufacture has been focused on Russian market.
The founder of Watch Company Johann Heinrich Moser. He was born in the Swiss city of Shaffhauzen, in family of the watch-maker. The skill of the watchmaker improved in Le Locle, where has moved together with the father. In Russia Moser has appeared in 1820th years and in 1826 in St.-Petersburg has created a watch repair shop, a little having changed sounding of the name on English manners - Henry Moser. Details of watches "Moser" ordered all in workshops in Le Locle, and in Petersburg from them collected watches. Thus some cases and dials were made in Petersburg about what speak Russian-speaking inscriptions "Moser in Moscow" on some copies. In 1868, Moser together with American Florentine Ariosto Jones has created the new Watch Company "International Watch Company" (IWC).
Florentine Ariosto Jones was just that person who was necessary Johann Heinrich Moser. In Shaffhauzen Moser has constructed hydroelectric power station on bank of the river Rhine. Equipped by a series of transfer wheels and long steel cables, the station produced cheap energy. This electric power was necessary Florentine Ariosto Jones for his modern manufacture. Thus, in 1868 Florentine Ariosto Jones has constructed Watch Company on the river Rhine in Shaffhauzen. "IWC" bought modern machine tools together with other Swiss firms - "Omega" and "Longines". And became the pioneer of industrial manufacture of watches in Switzerland. Factory of Henry Moser released wide assortment of pocket watches - man's and ladies, in gold, silver and steel cases of various styles, chronographs. Especially expensive were considered gold watches with an eternal calendar and the Moon (that is with indication of lunar phases). Were offered pocket watches of different kinds (or speaking the modern language, marks): "Blondel", "Rober", "Lepin", "Salter", "Tobias" and others. The gradation was made on a sort of the specific device of the mechanism.
Production was necessarily branded. And, the site of a brand and its appearance too reflected quality and cost of watches. For example, watches with only one inscription "Hy Moser & Ce" on the internal side of a cover, without the name of mark, were better and cost more expensively. From them on what the inscription of firm has been engraved by a Gothic font, were considered the first-rate quality. Such mechanisms ordered in Henry Moser for K. Faberzhe's jeweller products.
Using protection of Empress of Russia, firm "H. Moser" became in 1913 the official Supplier of the Imperial Court yard, and on corporate advertising there was a historical inscription: "the Supplier of Her Majesty Gosudaryni of Empress Aleksandry Fedorovny" though the founder of firm of Johann Heinrich Moser any more was not in alive, he has died in 1875.

The black dial with a small hour dial and a big minute dial. Movement similar Le Coultre. Watches similar to this where issued before a flight/mission and then collected in on landing. This was due to the high cost of the items. All watches where syncronised in breifing, and accuracy was extremely important so that individual Navigators/Bombardiers on individual aircraft all came to the same bearing (Latitude/Longtitude) at a given point. The watch was usually used in conjunction with a Gyro Sextant.

Made by the russian Zlatoust watch factory. Black dial has luminous numbers and hands. The case is closed and sealed with the glass ring screwed from the top. Luminous hands and numbers to be read in the dark. The strap is made gray and is made to stick to the outside of the divers suit. The watch is 10oz so it can be used as an extra weight to help lower the diver. The movement is mechanical wind up (15 jewels) Mono-metallic balance with screws, Breguet balance spring, brass lever and wheels. The crown is protected by a canteen screw and secured by a chain. Serial Numbered on the back. Very reliable 30 hours winding mechanism. Water proof under the pressure of 3kg/sq.cm (about 150-200 meters of depth). Weight 260 gr. Diameter 60mm.
